Winter Aeration System is on at Wirth Lake and Powderhorn Lake

Winter aeration provide an oxygen refuge for fish

The winter aeration systems have been turned on at Wirth Lake and Powderhorn Lake. They will run until the end of April, depending on weather conditions.

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) operates the winter aeration systems in accordance with procedures and permits issued by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Thin ice conditions and open water may occur due to the operation of the systems. Please stay clear of areas marked with thin ice signs.
