| In response to Governor Walz’s executive order issued on Wednesday, November 18, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is cancelling all sports, aquatics, indoor ice arena and indoor adult programs and closing the Phillips Aquatic Center, Parade Ice Arena and Northeast Ice Arena from Saturday, November 21 through Friday, December 19. MPRB recreation centers and Kroening Interpretive Center will close on Saturday, November 21 and re-open on November 30 to prepare the facilities and programs to meet the executive order (note: Rec Plus sites will remain open for registered childcare). Starting November 30, MPRB recreation centers and the MPRB Kroening Interpretive Center will only be open for scheduled, supervised, registered youth enrichment and childcare programs. Drop in visits or other use of recreation centers and the interpretive center are not allowed. Registered program participants will receive refunds for any cancelled fee-based indoor or outdoor programs.
The MPRB’s 180 parks and more than 100 miles of trails remain open. Park visitors are urged to stay at least six feet apart, wear a mask and not congregate with people from outside their household. The MPRB headquarters building is closed to the public. All Board meetings are virtual.
