Water Orientation and Safety classes begin July 6 at Wirth Lake Beach

Kids and teens ages 6 to 14 can learn to explore and enjoy the water safely. Scholarships available for Minneapolis residents!

Aquatics staff at the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) are excited to offer summer classes in water orientation and safety at Wirth Lake Beach. The July classes cover:

  • Principals of water safety, water orientation and acclimation
  • Use of personal flotation devices (PFDs)
  • Swimming fundamentals

With its “zero-depth” entry to the water, Wirth Lake Beach is a comfortable natural setting for beginning swimmers and others new to the water. Classes follow social distancing and other Covid-19 guidelines.

Join us at the beach for fun, learning, and a safe swim season!
