Projects are moving forward at other North Minneapolis neighborhood parks, too.
Improvements projects at three neighborhood parks in North Minneapolis are moving into their construction phase, after the approval of construction contracts at the June 17 meeting of commissioners for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB).
Construction at each park is planned to begin in the coming weeks, with completion later in the year, barring delays due to weather, construction or COVID-19.
Cleveland Park Improvements
- New consolidated play area in a central location with seating areas and landscaping
- Removal of current play areas to create new flexible-use spaces
Lovell Square Park Improvements
- New south-side play areas include a nature-themed early childhood area; a “loose parts” nature play area; and equipment for older children
- Removal of north-side play area to create community gardens/urban agriculture space
- Accessibility improvements to paths
- Landscaping improvements near the playground
Farview Park Improvements
- New, consolidated play area with seating areas and landscaping
- Removal of existing playground to create new, flexible-use space

Improvement projects are underway at several other Northside neighborhood parks:
- Folwell Park – construction is nearing completion on tennis courts, other improvements
- Perkins Hill Park – construction begins this fall on an all-wheel park
- Victory Park – construction begins this fall on a new splash pad, other improvements
- Bassett’s Creek Park – construction begins in July on a new play area, picnic facilities and other improvements
Improvements at these parks are guided by long-term plans for each park included in the North Service Area Master Plan, and are funded by the 20-Year Neighborhood Park Plan.
