Portion of West River Parkway to close for downtown riverfront park project

A portion of the West River Parkway is scheduled to close July 29 (possibly later) to accommodate construction activities at the Water Works project site in downtown Minneapolis, while maintaining a safe environment for workers and park users. It will reopen in the fall.

The parkway will close between Fourth Avenue North and the parking lot for the Stone Arch Bridge, just west of Portland Avenue.  Additional announcements will be made as the project proceeds.

Please note:

Bicycle and pedestrian trails
Bicycle and pedestrian trails will remain open on this stretch of the parkway during most of the construction project; however, temporary trails and detours will be required at times. The MPRB will work to minimize these alternative accommodations.

Stone Arch Bridge and parking lot
The Stone Arch Bridge and parking will remain accessible; however, the parking lot may close if safety becomes an issue.

Whitney Lofts parking
Whitney Lofts parking will remain accessible.
