Powderhorn Park hosts National Get Outdoors Day on June 7Posted on 6 May, 2019
Rain or shine, head over to Powderhorn Park for National Get Outdoors Day and start your weekend with some fun outside. This free outdoor festival gives anyone an opportunity to try an awesome variety of outdoor activities: paddle a canoe, practice archery, scale a climbing wall, go fishing, try Zumba, play camp games, roast marshmallows, make nature crafts and so much more. All activities are free.
There will be local entertainment for the whole family and dinner available for purchase from food trucks. Powderhorn Park is located at 3400 15th Ave S. and is easily accessible by bus or bicycle. Plenty of on-street parking is also available.
Get Outdoors Day is an annual event that grew from the Get Outdoors USA! campaign, which encourages Americans, especially youth, to have active outdoor lifestyles and embrace our parks, forests, refuges and other public lands and waters.
The event and recreational activities are presented by the REI Co-op, The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, US Forest Service, Minneapolis Parks Foundation and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board – all organizations that share a mission to introduce, revitalize, maintain and grow family interest in healthy and fun activities available in Minneapolis and the great outdoors.
