Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board congratulates the 2018 Fall Sportsmanship Award Winners

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is pleased to announce the 2018 Fall Youth Sportsmanship Awards. Presented at the Board of Commissioners meeting on March 6, 2019, awards were given to five neighborhood park sports teams and their coaches. Teams were recognized for their players’ outstanding display of positive attitudes, commitment, dedication, persistence and overcoming adversity. Coaches were recognized for being positive role models, emphasizing teamwork, demonstrating strong work ethic and passion, and engaging players and parents to have fun.

The awarded teams were chosen from 209 flag football, soccer, tackle football and volleyball youth sports teams for demonstrating exemplary sportsmanship throughout the winter season. Overall, 2,859 youth athletes participated in one of the five youth sports in fall 2018 and a total of 364 coaches dedicated 30,520 hours to their teams.
