In mid-to-late August each year, many lifeguards return to school and other fall activities. To continue providing safe operating conditions for Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) pool, beach and water park guests, the MPRB will reduce lifeguard services beginning Saturday, Aug. 20.
Saturday, Aug. 20-Sunday, Aug. 28
- Lifeguard services will be provided solely at the Nokomis Main and Wirth Lake beaches from noon-7 pm.
- Lifeguard services will continue at the Webber Natural Swimming Pool and North Commons and Jim Lupient Water Parks from 1-7 pm.
- Swim docks at Calhoun Thomas and Harriet Main beaches will be removed as of Friday, Aug. 19 for public safety.
Monday, Aug. 29–Friday, Sept. 2
- Wirth Lake and Nokomis Main beaches, Lupient Waterpark and Webber NSP will be guarded from 4-7 pm. (Webber NSP is closed Mondays).
- North Commons Water Park is closed for the season.
Saturday, Sept. 3-Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day)
- Nokomis Main and Wirth Lake beaches, Jim Lupient Water Park and Webber NSP will be guarded from 1-7 pm.
On Sept. 6, all lifeguarding services will end and MPRB aquatic facilities will close for the season.
