Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) crews are currently preparing to open 47 ice rinks for skating, broomball, hockey and pond hockey at 22 parks citywide.
The ice rinks are scheduled to open to open Monday, December 22, in time for Minneapolis Public School’s winter break and the start of the MPRB’s broomball season.
Weather permitting, all rinks and warming houses will be maintained and open through February 16.
Rinks at Lake of the Isles, McRae, North Commons and Van Cleve parks, are scheduled to remain open through March 1.
All rinks (except Bryn Mawr, Lake Nokomis, Lake of the Isles):
- Mon-Fri, 3-9 pm
- Saturday, 10 am-9 pm
- Sunday, noon-6 pm
Four sites with rink light timers will be lighted daily until 9 pm:
- Lake of the Isles
- Lynnhurst
- Matthews
- Van Cleve
Many of the 22 park locations offer separate rinks for general skating and recreational uses such as hockey, broomball and pond hockey. All locations except Nokomis offer free loaner skates on a first come, first serve basis.

The MPRB welcomes donations of ice skates and hockey sticks in good condition. Call or stop by your local recreation center for donation and drop-off information.
