Minnesota Black Baseball

Minnesota has a rich history of talented African American baseball players, yet few of them are known to fans today. The MLB imposed strict policies of segregation for decades. Black ballplayers were sent to the semipro leagues and much of their participation lost to history.

Frank White, author of “They Played for the Love of the Game” will cover that history by sharing stories and photos passed through generations. The stories tell of denial, hardship and segregation, yet highlight those who persevered and were united by their love of the sport.
