Black To Nature: Up North Mardi Gras
Come celebrate the spirt of Mardi Gras in North Mississippi Regional Park. Learn from naturalists about the animals that live in the park, then get creative with northside artists to make a mask of your favorite animal and, join in a parade of animals accompanied by musicians and Moko Jumbie (stilt walkers or dancers, that originated from West Africa and are a traditional part of Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans). This is a family friendly event for all and, holds space for all who identify as Black, Indigenous, and people of color.
