Creation Spaces are unique, innovative destinations at Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) recreation centers that provide opportunities and experiences for young people to explore exciting opportunities in creative careers.
Creation Spaces are designed to support creative expression, career exploration and self-actualization for youth. These spaces will help to fulfil a core MPRB mission: serving the youth of Minneapolis with quality, innovative programs.
The first Creation Space launched at Powderhorn Recreation Center in February 2021. The space features state-of-the-art multimedia equipment for people to learn music production, sound engineering and videography. The Powderhorn Creation Space introduces students to audio and visual arts as an option for further education and development, including career opportunities available within the entertainment field and music industry.
The first program in this exciting new space is Creative Arts Studio @ Powderhorn. The MPRB partnered with Urban World Management to guide students through the process of writing, recording and producing music and, video. Through the program, students are encouraged to create and release their own song or project.
