2026 Earth Day Cleanup FAQ
This is a drop-in volunteer activity, so there’s no need to pre-register. Simply choose a site that works for you and arrive at 9:30 am on Saturday, April 17, 2027. Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board staff or volunteers will provide bags and gloves at all Earth Day sites, and the City of Minneapolis Solid Waste and Recycling will properly dispose of all collected materials.
Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Expect to walk on grass or uneven surfaces and to bend down to pick up debris.
Bags and gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring any supplies that you’d like to use such as trash pickers or your own gloves. Be sure to bring water, snacks, and any other personal items you might need.
Parking will vary by location. Some parks have lots, and some offer street parking. Parking at MPRB meters and lots will be free until 1 pm on Saturday, April 17, 2027. Please ensure you are parked at an MPRB location. City of Minneapolis meters will still be enforced. View a map of MPRB parking facilities.
Absolutely! We do ask that children are accompanied by an adult.
Please do not touch any heavy, sharp, or potentially hazardous items. Each site coordinator will provide specific instructions. Volunteers are asked to take a picture of the item and note the location. Site coordinators will help volunteers submit this information to MPRB staff, who will address the issue.
You are welcome to volunteer for any amount of time that fits your schedule. We appreciate any time you can dedicate to the cleanup and are grateful for your help!
If you’re in the City of Minneapolis and want to host your own cleanup at any time of the year, the City of Minneapolis can help connect you with information and supplies.
