The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is pleased to report that major construction on the all-wheel park at Folwell Park is nearing completion.
Final restoration of areas surrounding the new all-wheel park are planned to be completed by the end of November. During this time, we ask people to walk only on park paths in areas where seeding/restoration is not yet complete.
Early to mid-November: Remaining work to install site furnishings, finish grading and landscape work will be completed.
Mid to late November: Work on final restoration and dormant seeding, when temperatures allow (it must be cold enough to keep seeds dormant until next spring).
Note on park lighting
Several path lights in Folwell Park have been out for some time. MPRB appreciates everyone’s patience while electricians and other staff worked to determine the cause and find a solution. The outage resulted from a combination of construction work and vandalism on key light poles; however, this week all park lighting should be restored.
Spring 2026 grand opening
MPRB will host an event next spring to celebrate these park improvements. We’ll share details once they’re confirmed!

About the project
The current all-wheel park project at Folwell Park builds on a range of improvements added to the park since 2017, including:
- New playground south of recreation center
- Tennis courts renovated
- New lighting for west athletic field
- Recreation center updates and replacements: kitchens, craft rooms, restrooms, roof
- Path connecting the courts and playground
- Accessibility improvements for the parking lot, sidewalk to the recreation center, and center entry
