Closure necessary to stage materials for project to stabilize Olson Island in the Mississippi River north of the boat launch
Camden Boat Launch in North Mississippi Regional Park closes Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025.
The closure is necessary to stage materials for a project that will stabilize and add mussel habitat to Olson Island in the Mississippi River north of the boat launch. The Mississippi Watershed Management Organization’s August newsletter has an interesting story with more information on this project.
Tree logs will be stockpiled at the boat launch beginning the week of Sept. 1. In early October, barges will be used to transport the logs and construction equipment out to the island to place and anchor the logs.
The boat launch is expected to remain closed for the rest of 2025 and reopen in 2026. It will remain open only to emergency vehicles.
