Update on Audubon Park improvements project

Thanks to everyone who weighed in last year on initial concept designs for improvements at the park!

Project staff used the community’s input and recommendations to develop a final concept design for the project.

It upgrades existing park amenities based on the long-term plan for Audubon Park (part of East of the River Service Area Master Plan for all neighborhood parks in Northeast/Southeast Minneapolis, available here).

This phase of improvments at Audubon Park includes:

  • universal design playground with new play equipment and resilient surface
  • Upgrading the existing tennis courts for pickleball, ecuavolley, and futsal
  • Resurfacing the existing basketball court
  • upgrades to paths and lighting to improve accessibility and safety

What happens next?

Vote: Commissisoners for the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB) will vote on approving the final concept plan at their regular Board Meeting on Wednesday, February 5.

Bid: Contractors will bid on constructing these improvements in March/April.

Construction: Work in the park is anticipated to begin by the end of June, barring delays due to weather or the construction bid process.
