Several areas with improvements are open; other areas will be complete next spring.
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is pleased to report that the Powderhorn Park Improvements project is making good progress.
- The new nature play/adventure play portion of the playground is now open! Note: In the coming weeks, the sand play area will close temporarily to add the sand and sand scoop.
- Other improvements at the site in the park’s southeast corner are also nearly complete: a new ADA path to the recreation center, a new staircase, landscaping, trees and a new picnic area. We plan for these areas to open soon as well.
- Unfortunately, due to delays in manufacturing, equipment for the larger play area will not be available to install this year. We expect that play area to be complete in spring 2025.
As construction wraps up for the season, please stay out of any areas with orange construction fencing.
