The Neighborhood Naturalist program offers nature-based experiences, outdoor activities and environmental education experiences in parks all over Minneapolis. MPRB’s trained naturalists connect residents with nearby nature to spark curiosity and joy and empower learning.

Drop-in Discovery Programs

All ages are welcome to drop-in at weekly programs to explore and investigate different nature activities and themes with a naturalist at various parks across the city.

Nature Play Groups

For children ages 1.5 to 4 and their grown-ups, Nature Play Groups engage little ones in curiosity and sensory investigation in nature at various parks throughout Minneapolis.

Nature Corners

For young children (less than 7 years) and their grown-up, Nature Corners are a special feature of indoor playground programs that provide an opportunity for nature exploration and sensory investigation during the cold season.

Nature Explorers Camps

Children ages 3.5 through 14 years old have the opportunity to explore, play, and investigate at different themed nature camps at various Minneapolis regional parks. A wide variety of camp themes, locations, times, and age groups are offered throughout the summer.

… with a Naturalist Programs

For adults 18 years and older. Walk, hike, bike, paddle, birdwatch, snowshoe, garden and more … with a naturalist! Try new activities and see the natural world in new ways. All equipment provided.

Canoeing Programs (May – September) 

All ages (children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult) can experience the City of Lakes from the water, with guidance as needed from a trained instructor, June through August.

Snowshoeing Programs (January – March, snow-dependent)

For all ages 5 and up, join us for drop-in session sand scheduled programs – try snowshoeing for FREE at parks across the city (in season).
