The existing playgrounds were built in the early 1990’s. The play equipment has exceeded its anticipated lifespan and no longer meets current accessibility or safety standards. The preferred playground design selected at the third meeting will go before the Board of Commissioners for approval and contract award. A public hearing will be on the same agenda, offering residents an opportunity to speak to the Board regarding the proposed improvements. All residents within a three-block radius of the park will receive mailed notification of the public hearing.

Construction of the new playgrounds is expected to begin in the fall of 2014 and be completed by the end of the year. The playgrounds at each park will be closed and fenced during construction, which is expected to take approximately four to eight weeks. Those wishing to follow the progress of these three projects are encouraged to sign up for email updates by clicking on the red envelope at the bottom of the home page of the MPRB website.
