Long-term stormwater management is one key to keeping lake water quality suitable for recreation and for sustaining plants and wildlife. MPRB is seeking dedicated funding to invest in stormwater management and protect Minneapolis lakes.
Lake Harriet water quality advisory
The blue-green algae bloom at Lake Harriet announced on May 11 has not dispersed. Signs are posted at the lake’s two beaches and advisories are posted on the water quality updates map. Testing for water quality at this location begins June 5; during the aquatics preseason, testing is limited to lakes and beach locations with lifeguards – see above. MPRB will make announcements as updated information is confirmed.
