Ribbon cutting at Armatage Park’s new playground

Armatage Park‘s new playground got an official and enthusiastic welcome yesterday evening. Neighborhood residents turned out for a ribbon cutting with MPRB Superintendent Al Bangoura; Commissioner Londel French; the Armatage Neighborhood Association (ANA) and its president, Joel Federer; and Armatage Community School principal Steve Searl.

The new playground features imaginative play components with climbing and slides for kids ages 2-5; athletic and agility play equipment for kids ages 5-12; and an expansive swing area for all ages. All of its elevated features are universally accessible, with new surfacing materials that improve accessibility throughout. Engineered wood fiber is more accessible and reduces impact better than typical wood chips, while poured resilient rubber surfacing is used at key areas where children ascend or descend from play components.

MPRB is especially grateful to the ANA and the school for their support throughout the project; and thanks the ANA for providing funds for two of the three roof shades on the play equipment, as well as an accessible see-saw.
