Public Hearing for the Loring Playground Improvements Concept Plan will be held on May 5, 2021

A Public Hearing for the Loring Playground Improvements Concept Plan will be held on May 5, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. Individuals wishing to offer comments during the public hearing may do so as described below.

The Loring Playground Concept Plan incorporates guidance and direction from the Downtown Service Area Master Plan, MPRB staff, Citizens for a Loring Park Community, Friends of Loring Park, and broader community neighborhood input captured by neighborhood virtual meetings (4 total) and 2 socially distanced pop-up events at the playground, online surveys, and individual e-mail correspondence. The plans meet current minimum standards for accessibility as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act. All equipment in the concept plan is IPEMA certified. Construction for this project is planned for Fall 2021. Participation in Public Hearing
During COVID-19 To minimize the risk of exposure to or potential spread of COVID-19, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is conducting its meetings virtually as authorized under Minn. Stat. Section 13D.02. Most Commissioners will call in and the meeting will be viewable live via webcast and TV options. The video is also posted on the website usually two days after the meeting.

As of November 18, 2020, comments for open time, public hearings and public comment periods will not be permitted in person. There are two options to submit Open Time and Public Hearing comments:

  • Call in (recommended)
  • Write-in

Call in (recommended)
You may sign up to provide comment for the public hearing by phone by completing this form before 12 pm on the day of the meeting.

  • Speakers will be sent a call-in number and conference ID one hour before the meeting
  • Speakers can call into the meeting using the call-in number and conference ID at its the scheduled time
  • Speakers will enter the meeting and the committee chair will provide guidance for commenting
  • Speakers can watch the meeting through normal meeting broadcast
  • Be aware there is a 20-30 second lag between the call and the broadcast

Please turn off the broadcast sound when you are called on to speak.
