Playground closed due to safety issues caused by unstable soil conditions; equipment will be replaced by temporary nature play features
The large playground structure for kids ages 5-12 at Wirth Beach is closed due to safety issues caused by unstable soil conditions. Next week temporary fencing is scheduled to go up to keep people off the structure, which is scheduled to be removed the third week of April.
After the playground structure is removed, nature play equipment, like tree climbers, log balance beams and other tree/log play features, will be installed as a temporary replacement. Additional community engagement will take place to determine a final design for a permanent replacement for the play structure.
