Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board’s Youth Advisory Council

The MPRB’s Youth Advisory Council is a group of youth leaders between the ages of 14-17.  Each youth will serve a two-year term, that requires 5-12 hours per month commitment. Youth Council members are involved in project focused, youth-led discussions and strategies to provide feedback on MPRB programming and processes.  Youth Council members will further develop their leadership and research skills, explore career pathways, evaluate and advise and guide anti-violence programming and outreach to reduce youth violence and increase youth connectedness to positive programs, activities, and resources.

Members of the council will be supported in a variety of meaningful areas including, but not limited to, professionalism, financial literacy, customer service and more!  In addition to being a part of the Park Board’s youth council, representatives also can plan community events, partake in conferences/forums/events, and gain a deeper understanding of the Parks and our overall mission.  Prevention focused programming will be the key component to accomplish this goal.
