Events Go Green

Sustainability is a priority for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) and very important to our visitors and participants.

Green Certification recognizes events that are working to lower their environmental impact by using environmentally conscious practices such as recycling, reducing paper usage, and conserving energy.

Our Certified Green Event guidelines help make it easier for event coordinators to produce environmentally sustainable events.

Why Should Your Event Go Green?

  • Recycling and composting event discards, using energy-efficient generators, and promoting alternative transportation, can reduce your event's carbon footprint.
  • When you show your commitment to the environment, it nurtures a positive public image and enhances your event.
  • Certain sustainable actions, such as recycling and composting or reducing paper use, can help your event save money.
  • Sustainable events showcase your organization's leadership on environmental issues and set a model for others who wish to do the same.
