Join your friends and neighbors for a Neighborhood Design Social at Phelps Park on June 24 Every neighborhood deserves a great park. Meeting accommodations

Find out about improvements coming to the park and share your ideas!

Join Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) staff to share your ideas and help prioritize the first phase of improvements coming to the park.

  • Kids are encouraged to attend!
  • Enjoy movie snacks and beverages! *

We are looking for input and opinions on a range of improvements, which could include:

  • New play areas
  • Water play area with splashpad
  • Adult fitness equipment
  • Walking paths
  • Updated athletic field

These improvements are specified in the concept plan for Phelps Field Park, approved in 2016 as part of the South Service Area Master Plan.

This initial phase of improvements is funded with an approximately $1.4 million allocation from the 20-Year Neighborhood Park Plan (see below) over 2018 and 2019, as well as park dedication funds.

It is expected that design will be complete by late summer, with construction beginning this fall and continuing through spring and summer of 2019. Visit the project page for more details and background.

See you at the park!

* Stay for a screening of “The Greatest Showman” at dusk, part of MPRB’s Movies in the Parks series.

Every neighborhood deserves a great park.

Phelps Field Park improvements include major funding from NPP20, a historic agreement between the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) and the City of Minneapolis. NPP20 helps address racial and economic equity across 160 neighborhood parks and provides $11 million annually to maintain, repair and replace facilities.
