Join us Thursday, October 24 to check out the new concept design for park improvementsPosted on 21 October, 2019
Join Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) staff to review a new concept design for improvements coming to Bassett’s Creek Park – and to provide input on types of play equipment and materials.
In August and September, MPRB received more than 50 responses to a survey. Those responses, along with input from an open house in August, helped to prioritize elements to include in this improvements project. The top priorities, all of which come from the park’s 2018 master plan, are:
- Improved access to the creek
- Naturaized areas and native plantings
- New loop trails
- New and refreshed sidewalks
- New play equipment and a refreshed play area
- New picnic shelter
This improvements project focuses on the areas of Bassett’s Creek Park in the Harrison neighborhood, north of Bassett’s Creek. It follows last year’s project to construct a new playground and make other improvements in park areas south of the creek.
Both projects are guided by the park’s master plan, approved in 2018 as part of the North Service Area Master Plan. It includes long-term master plans for all of the neighborhood parks in North Minneapolis.
