West Lake Harriet Parkway expected to reopen to motorized traffic between 42nd and 44th Streets on July 12

Trail construction continues at Lake Harriet as part of the Calhoun/Bde Maka Ska-Harriet Trail and Access Improvements project.

New Project Impacts (expected to begin July 12)

  • The improved bike and pedestrian connection between Minnehaha Parkway Trail and Lake Harriet Trail is mostly complete and open to trail users.
  • West Lake Harriet Parkway will reopen to motorized vehicles between 42nd and 44th Streets, just south of the Lake Harriet Bandshell.
  • The north entrance to the Lake Harriet Bandshell Parking Lot will be closed for approximately 4 weeks. The newly constructed south entrance will be reopened.
  • The Lake Harriet Bandshell Restrooms will be closed during this same timeframe. Additional satellite restrooms will be provided in the area.
  • A bicycle trail detour will be in place around the west side of the Bandshell area as bicyclists will use the pedestrian trail for a short stretch. Bicyclist are asked to yield to pedestrians through this zone.

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board appreciates the public’s patience while work is performed.
