Work continues to restore Meadowbrook Golf Course for a late summer 2017 re-opening

At its April 19, 2017 Board Meeting, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) Board of Commissioners will consider a resolution approving a construction contract for work to Meadowbrook Golf Course. Meadowbrook has been closed since spring 2014 record rainfalls flooded the courses, causing significant damage.

The proposed restoration work includes:

  • Repairing damaged bunkers
  • Replacing damaged irrigation systems
  • Cart path repairs
  • Removal of sand bags used following the 2014 flood
  • Trail and lake bank restoration
  • Other various golf course repairs

Meadowbrook maintenance and park keeping staff have been working in other areas of the golf course, cleaning and preparing the site for the upcoming restoration work, and continuing the rehabilitation work begun in 2016. The new Meadowbrook golf course foreman is overseeing the work to ensure that the course is restored to playing conditions that are as good as – if not better than – before the 2014 flood.

In addition to green, fairway and bunker restoration and repairs, work is also being done on multiple structures, including:

  • Removal of the current Meadowbrook Clubhouse
  • Repairs to the cart barn and maintenance building
  • Well closure construction at maintenance building

Although many factors can impact the planned construction and rehabilitation/restoration schedule, the MPRB is committed to reopening Meadowbrook Golf Course by late summer, 2017.
