A public hearing on two proposed amendments to the Nokomis-Hiawatha Master Plan [PDF] is scheduled Wednesday, July 12, 2017, 6:45 pm in the Board Room at Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) headquarters, 2117 West River Road.
One amendment would create a designated urban agriculture area on the east side of Lake Hiawatha. Another amendment would finalize a design concept for the Nokomis Athletic Fields located on the northwest side of Lake Nokomis.
An online survey is now available to give feedback on two potential amendments to the Nokomis-Hiawatha Master Plan.
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is hosting a Community Open House to get feedback on two potential amendments to the Nokomis-Hiawatha Master Plan. The open house is set for Thursday, May 25, 6-8 pm at Lake Nokomis Community Center, 2401 East Minnehaha Parkway.

Nokomis-Hiawatha Regional Park includes approximately 660 acres of land and water surrounding Lakes Nokomis and Hiawatha. The first plan for improvements in the park was drawn by Theodore Wirth in 1919, while a 1934 plan is the first to show both lakes.
The project will improve Nokomis/Hiawatha Regional Park in three ways:
This project has two separate funding deadlines, so the project must be broken into three sub-projects, two of which will happen at the same time.
