Grand Opening Invitation [PDF]
Current Phase: Grand Opening July 28, 2017
Please join Commissioner Steffanie Musich and your Lake Nokomis community as we celebrate the completed playground improvements!
The nature play area will be closing May 31st as improvements are made to the area to allow for permanent nature play. The "Evos" equipment will remain open throughout the majority of the construction period with the exception of a few days when new ground surfacing is installed.
Construction continues on the new playground through early July with a revised opening the week of July 10th.
We appreciate your patience as we remove the existing equipment and containers in the tot lot area and nature play area and prepare the site for the new and rehabbed equipment to come back in. The "Evos" climbing structure will remain open and available for use throughout most of May. The Evos container will be closed for a short period of time in order to replace the sand with Engineered Wood Fiber.
To accommodate construction personnel and equipment the overflow parking lot near the playground will be closed during construction hours, but will remain open evenings and weekends. Weather dependent, we hope to complete all improvements by mid-June. Please watch this site for additional updates and a grand opening celebration date.

Thank you to all those who participated in the surveys online and in person. We are using these results [PDF] and all of the comments received to help guide the design for the new equipment. A community meeting to review the design idea(s) and get feedback will be held on November 15 at 7 PM in the Nokomis Community Center Lobby.
The purpose of this project is to provide an improved playground area at the Lake Nokomis Community Center playground. The current playground configuration does not meet safety and accessibility standards. Adjacent amenities, such as pathways, may be impacted and updated as part of the project.
