Adaptive sports sampler class at Matthews Recreation Center

Great opportunities are available this winter for children and adults with disabilities to enjoy positive, unique experiences playing sports in Minneapolis Parks!

Registration is open for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Adaptive Recreation Sports Sampler and Adaptive Ice Skating Lessons. See below for details.

Adaptive Recreation Sports Sampler

Program Details

  • Designed specifically for boys and girls with disabilities ages 6-12
  • Positive, non-competitive learning environment for all ability levels
  • Learn a variety of sports through games, drills and activities
  • Individual support: MPRB staff will contact each participant prior to the start of the program to help ensure a positive and unique experience

Registration Details

  • Five classes total, Tuesday nights, 5:15-6:00 pm, Feb. 20, 2018-March 20, 2018
  • All classes held at Matthews Recreation Center, 2318 29th Ave. S, Minneapolis, MN 55406
  • $40 residents, $60 non-residents

Adaptive Ice Skating Lessons

Program Details

  • Designed specifically for people with disabilities ages 8 and up, including adults
  • Outdoor rink, so dress for the weather
  • Beginner lessons teach basic ice skating skills
  • Intermediate/Advanced lessons teach improved edges for figure skating or hockey skills
  • Individual support: 1:1 instructor/participant assistance available at all lessons
