Lake Calhoun/Bde Maka Ska Boat Launch and section of East Calhoun Parkway close Aug. 21-Sept. 8

The Lake Calhoun/Bde Maka Ska Boat Launch and southbound East Calhoun Parkway traffic from West Lake Street to 36th Street will close beginning Monday, Aug. 21, 2017. The closure is expected to last until Friday, Sept. 8, 2017. The Tin Fish restaurant and Wheel Fun Rentals will both remain open during construction.

The closure is necessary for trail rehabilitation and accessibility upgrades taking place this summer around Lake Calhoun/Bde Maka Ska and Lake Harriet. Earlier this summer construction wrapped up at Lake Harriet.

Alternate Boat Launches and Detours

During the closure there will be no public boat launch access at Lake Calhoun/Bde Maka Ska. An emergency boat launch has been identified for public safety officers. The nearest public boat launch is at the north end of Lake Harriet. Click the link below for a list of boat, canoe and kayak racks and launches in Minneapolis.

Southbound motorized traffic on East Calhoun Parkway will be detoured east to Hennepin Avenue from West Lake Street to 36th Street. Bike and pedestrian traffic will follow minor detours around the construction zone.

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board appreciates the public’s patience while this critical trail rehabilitation and accessibility improvement project is performed
