Posted on December 29, 2016

A recommendation relative to the possible selection of a master developer team for the City-owned Upper Harbor Terminal site is expected to be separately considered by the Minneapolis City Council and Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) in January. One submission for consideration as a master developer was received from a team led by United Properties that also includes THOR Development and First Avenue Productions.

The initial steps in this process will be consideration by two committees:

Minneapolis Community Development and Regulatory Services Committee

The agenda for the Community Development and Regulatory Services Committee and a link to the staff report will be found at this link about noon on Friday, Dec. 30.

MPRB Planning Committee

Wednesday, Jan. 4
Regular Board meeting begins at 5 pm; Planning Committee begins immediately following Regular Board meeting
MPRB headquarters, 2117 West River Road, second-floor Board Room

The agenda for the MPRB Planning Committee and the staff report will be found at this link late in the day on Friday, Dec. 30 (select “agenda packet” rather than “agenda” to see the staff report as well as the agenda).

Next steps

The actions taken by these two committees are then expected to be considered by the full City Council on Friday, January 13, and by the full Park Board on Wednesday, January 25. Both of these actions then will be forwarded to Mayor Hodges for her consideration.

All of the above meetings will be public, but will not include public hearings. You may watch them live online at Minneapolis Channel 14.

Once this process has been completed, watch for another update in late January with the outcome!
