DESCRIPTION:The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) will host a community open house and design workshop to review and discuss initial design ideas for Cedar Avenue Field Park.  This event will be held at the Southside Family Nurturing Center\, 2448 18th Avenue South\, Minneapolis\, on February 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Food will be provided. Members of the public are welcome to attend any time between 6 and 8. There will be no formal presentation at any time. \nThis is the next step in a process to create a master plan for Cedar Avenue Field Park. This planning process is a continuation of the South Service Area Master Plan (SSAMP)\, which has been formally approved by the MPRB Commissioners (visit the project webpage for more information). The Cedar Field master plan will be amended into the SSAMP at the conclusion of the planning process\, as called for in the SSAMP document. \nAfter the workshop on the 8th\, MPRB staff will refine the designs and bring a new concept back to the community for further discussion. All CAC meetings are open to the public and the MPRB encourages anyone interested in the future of Minneapolis recreation centers to attend and participate. \nRecQuest Refresher\nMinneapolis’ demographics are changing rapidly\, making it more important than ever to ensure that the MPRB meets the needs of the city’s diverse stakeholders. Therefore\, the MPRB is developing a plan – RecQuest – for the next generation of recreation centers in Minneapolis. \nThe MPRB operates 49 year-round\, neighborhood-based recreation centers\, and leases two recreation centers to non-profit organizations. Most facilities were built in the 1960s and 1970s and are nearing the end of their useful life. \nRecQuest will set the stage for the next 25-30 years of capital improvements at recreation centers.
