The project will take a complete look at all outdoor park facilities\, create improvement plans for each neighborhood park\, and guide decisions on capital improvements—including NPP20 funding allocations. \nWhat is the Community Advisory Committee?\nThe CAC is a group of community members appointed by MPRB commissioners\, Minneapolis City Council members and neighborhood organizations to guide the planning process of all Northeast/Southeast neighborhood parks. The CAC will work with MPRB staff and consultants over the next year to make recommendations to MPRB Commissioners. \nAll CAC meetings are open to the public and each meeting will have an opportunity for public comment. Please call (612) 230-6472 or email planning@minneapolisparks.org at least two business days in advance of the meeting if you require reasonable modification or language translation.  \nOther ways to get involved\nIn addition to attending CAC meetings\, there are many other ways to get involved in the project: \n\nSign up to receive email updates by subscribing at www.minneapolisparks.org/subscribe. DESCRIPTION:The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is hosting an open house to give an update on the Water Works project on Thursday\, Nov. 9\, 6-8 pm at the Nicollet Island Pavilion\, 40 Power St. \nAt 6:15 pm\, members of the Water Works project team will give a brief presentation highlighting features of the park project design and give general project updates. Also\, Frank Haney\, culinary ethnobotanist and Indigenous chef from The Sioux Chef team\, will be present to discuss the food concept selected for the indoor pavilion at Water Works. Limited samples of The Sioux Chef food will be available. \nThe Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) and Minneapolis Parks Foundation (MPF) invite all interested members of the public to attend and comment on the Water Works project. SUMMARY:Downtown Service Area Master Plan Public Hearing
DESCRIPTION:A public hearing for the Downtown Service Area Master Plan (DSAMP) is scheduled across two upcoming meetings of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board of Commissioners.  \nThe first opportunity to comment on the plan before Park Commissioners consider its approval is on Wednesday\, Nov. 15\, 2017 at 6:00 pm. At the conclusion of the Nov. 15 public hearing\, it will be held over to the next Board of Commissioners meeting\, Wednesday\, Nov. 29\, 2017\, where it will continue at 6:45 pm. The public is invited to attend and/or comment at either meeting or both. \nAny interested community members are invited to attend and comment on the Master Plan\, which will guide outdoor improvements at all non-riverfront downtown parks (Elliot Park\, Franklin Steele Square\, Gateway Park\, Loring Park\, Park Avenue Triangle) for the next 20-30 years\, as well as the potential acquisition and development of new parkland within downtown Minneapolis. \nThe draft DSAMP is the result of nearly three years of community-based planning\, rigorous design and evaluating and responding to community feedback.The public comment period for the draft DSAMP is closed\, but interested members of the public may still review the draft plan by visiting the project page linked below (sorted into chapters under “Key Documents” header) and comment at the public hearing. \nAn updated draft of the plan with possible changes for the Board to consider will be posted to the project page on Friday\, Nov. 10. \nSee Project Page \nGet Directions

DESCRIPTION:The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) will hold a public hearing on proposed improvements for Peavey Park on Wednesday\, November 15\, 2017 at 6:45pm at MPRB Headquarters\, 2117 West River Road in Minneapolis. \nThe hearing allows interested members of the public to weigh in on proposed playground and picnic shelter concept plans before the Board of Commissioners. After the hearing is closed\, commissioners will consider approval of the plans. \nThe playground and shelter are part of Phase 2 improvements planned for 2018. Also included are a multi-use field\, central path\, site grading\, and stormwater management. Phase 1 improvements\, which include a new basketball court complex\, are well underway. All improvements are guided by the approved Peavey Park Master Plan (as part of the South Service Area Master Plan). \nConcept plans for the playground and picnic shelter were created based on feedback from stakeholder meetings\, on-site engagement\, online surveys\, a youth design camp and a community charrette. \nIf the concept plans are approved\, construction bids will be awarded in early 2018\, with construction during summer of 2018.  \nSee Project Page \nGet Directions
