DESCRIPTION:The community is invited to a Meet & Greet on Tuesday\, February 19 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at the Trailhead\, to welcome new Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) Superintendent\, Al Bangoura.   \n  \n“I am excited to meet and hear from park users and other stakeholders to continue conversations around a common vision\,” Bangoura said.  Referring to the 22 community listening sessions\, held during the hiring process to highlight priorities from a park user perspective\, Bangoura added\, “I want all communities to know that not only are we listening\, we are committed to building upon a legacy that includes safe collaborative spaces that benefit us all.” \n  \nAs Superintendent\, Bangoura provides day-to-day leadership for the 6\,811 acre nationally recognized park system and manage an annual operating and capital budget of $120 million.  The position oversees the work of approximately 570 full-time and 1\,170 temporary Minneapolis Parks employees who deliver programs\, services and facilities that are responsive to the diverse needs of City residents and all segments of the community. \n  \nR.T. Rybak\, CEO of Minneapolis Foundation – who is sponsoring the event commented\, “We’re excited about our new leader and welcome the opportunity for everyone to collaborate to make the nation’s best park system even better.” \n  \nPrior to being named Superintendent\, Bangoura oversaw community and recreation services for Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation\, which includes Charlotte\, NC and serves over 1.1 million people.   He has close ties to Minneapolis and a true affinity for the MPRB having once held a variety of progressive recreation leadership positions between 2001 and 2015\, including Director of Recreation Centers. \n  \nThe Meet & Greet will be held on February 19 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at The Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Regional Park\, located at 1221 Theodore Wirth Pkwy\, Minneapolis\, MN 55422 \nAttendance is free and light hors d’oeuvres will be served. SUMMARY:Flashlight Egg Hunt
DESCRIPTION:Come on down to Creekview for our fun egg hunt. Bring your flashlight and we’ll start the egg hunt once it is dark. You must be in the center at the start of the event so we can hide the eggs outside. We will divide the eggs up for the different age groups. Registration is not required for the event\, but you must be in the Creekview Park building by 8pm to be included in the hunt.
