Tree Planting

  • Help plant a tree in McRae Park! MPRB Forestry staff will lead tree planting excursions throughout the park every half hour between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm.
  • There are 65 trees to plant during the event. Representatives from the Minnesota Vikings will be on-hand to help plant trees, so come join in on the fun!
  • Bartlett Tree Experts will be giving away free tree seedlings to take home.

Activities

  • Harnessed tree climbing under the supervision of MPRB Forestry professionals
  • Bucket truck rides offering incredible views of the park and beyond
  • Tree-sized lawn games like chess, checkers and kubb
  • Ask an Arborist booth giving out free advice on tree care questions
  • Nature play area made from reused tree limbs
  • Tree-themed activities by MPRB Environmental Education staff
  • Representatives from the Minnesota Vikings will be on-hand to help plant trees
  • Information and activities from environmental organizations and the Field Regina Northrop Neighborhood Group
  • An Arbor Day Pickleball Tournament is planned on McRae Park’s new pickleball courts paved inside the hockey boards. Register here!
  • The Brewery Running Series is hosting its annual Arbor Day Run at the park with proceeds supporting urban forestry outreach.
    • This includes a Sapling Dash for kids!
  • McRae Park is located at 906 E 47th St.
  • The park is accessible from Chicago Avenue from the west or 46th/47th Streets from the north/south.
  • Please consider walking, biking, or taking transit.
    • The Metro D Line and 5 and 46 bus lines stop at the park
    • Extra bike racks will be brought in for the event
  • Live music features Brass Solidarity, South High School Advanced Modern Band, and the return of The Arborators, a band comprised of forestry professionals who will play a set from the treetops!

  • Beer Garden includes a variety of offerings from local breweries, sponsored by Brewing a Better Forest and Modist Brewing
