Trail Construction Update

Bde Maka Ska Trail Update

Construction is now 95% complete with only minor railing installation scheduled this fall on the northeast side of Bde Maka Ska near the Lake Street Bridge. It will take a bit longer for new turf to reestablish after construction, so please try to stay off new grass.

The World War I Mast Memorial has been fully repaired (pictured right). People for Parks is managing a program where members of the public can purchase a customized paver that will be installed in the plaza by Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board staff. This program is run in a similar fashion to the existing paver customization program at the Lake Harriet Bandshell. Please visit the People for Parks Gifts and Memorials page for more information.

The public art project at the southeast side of Bde Maka Ska is partially complete. A new gathering space and new trail featuring artist-designed concrete stamping have been installed. Stay tuned for an update regarding that project.

Intersection Improvement Update

Construction is now 100% complete with only minor warranty items remaining, like the crosswalk striping at the Lake Street and Lagoon Avenue intersections on East Calhoun Parkway. All temporary signals, detours and lane closures have been removed.
