Construction of Minnehaha Parkway Regional Trail Phase 1 Implementation Project to begin soon
Posted on 16 August, 2022The MPRB publicly solicited and received four (4) bids on June 8, 2022 for the Minnehaha Parkway Regional Trail Phase 1 Implementation Project. The MPRB approved a construction contract with G. Urban Companies at their meeting on July 6, 2022. The project is set to begin construction September 6, 2022 and is anticipated to be substantially complete by November 30, 2022.
The project is primarily located at the East Minnehaha Parkway/East 50th Street intersection, but will also include improvements to the regional bike trail between Portland Ave & Chicago Ave, improvements to the regional multi-use trail just west of Portland Ave, a rain garden for stormwater management, and conversion of parkway frontage roads to opposing one-way traffic.
This project is the first phase of many improvements outlined in the Minnehaha Parkway Regional Trail Master Plan. It will improve safety, usability and aesthetics for all users of the trails and roadways.
