Regional Trail and Parkway Detour Update

Starting Tuesday, October 7, frontage roads near 50th Street E will be converted into one-way traffic  with “No Parking” signs placed

Construction began in September on a project to improve safety for trail users and drivers along Minnehaha Parkway Regional Trail between Portland Avenue and Chicago Avenue, see “Project Improvements” below for details.

On Monday, October 3, Minnehaha Parkway closed to all motorized vehicle and trail traffic between Portland Avenue S and 50th Street E to accommodate work on this project.

New Conditions in Response to Congestion

In response to congestion along Minnehaha Parkway frontage roads, “No Parking” signs have been placed for the duration of construction this fall. Signs will be removed once the regional bike and pedestrian trails have been repaved.

Also, beginning Friday, Oct.7, frontage roads will be converted to opposing one-way traffic for vehicles, per project plans. This will calm traffic and enhance safety for all users. Please continue to follow  detour signage when travelling by any mode through this area.
