The Veterans Home Bridge, formerly known as the Old Soldiers Home Bridge, is located near 5101 Minnehaha Avenue downstream of Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The bridge provides access to the Minnesota Veterans Home – Minneapolis across the Minnehaha Creek gorge. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has assigned the bridge number 5756 for use in the State bridge database.
The State closed the bridge in 2014. State funding to complete repairs to the bridge was appropriated in May 2017 and repair work started in late Fall 2017. During the bridge certification process, areas of the bridge were identified that will require additional testing and inspection. The State is currently working with experts in the field on the additional testing and inspection to determine next steps. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
