The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) welcomes people of all ages with disabilities to participate in programs and services to make friends, have fun, learn new skills, increase self-worth and self-esteem and enjoy the feeling of accomplishment. Inclusion services are available to those who choose to participate in general recreation and education programs. MPRB provides appropriate and reasonable accommodations, support, and special staff preparation and training to make your recreation and education experience inviting, pleasant and successful.

Program Participation
To get started, contact your local rec centerdirector or program supervisor and inform him/her that you or your child has special education service needs. The director or supervisor will provide a cover letter and assessment for you to complete. The assessment is kept confidential when it’s submitted. Follow the directions and the Inclusion Coordinator will contact you. You are also welcome to contact the Inclusion Coordinator directly at 612-230-6489 with questions or requests for support.
Adaptive sports for adults include volleyball, kickball, softball and badminton. Special Olympic programs for all ages feature bocce ball, table tennis, basketball, tennis, softball, track and field and volleyball. Programming can be competitive, open gyms and skills enhancement. MPRB also offers adaptive art opportunities through the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and at local recreation centers.
Coaches Needed
The MPRB welcomes coaches and volunteers to help with the Special Olympics and other programs. Coaches receive training from the Special Olympics
