The snowboard park is closed for the season.

Learn to ride at Theodore Wirth Snowboard Park! The city's first snowboarding area is also the region's least expensive. Wirth Winter Recreation Area offers exceptional value, recreational expertise and a deep snow base of fun!

Head to the Wirth Winter Recreation Area for everything from lessons by a veteran trained staff for beginners, to a snowboard park with advanced technical rails and jumps. The park also features snowmaking capability and lighted hills, made possible by funding from MPRB, City of Lakes Nordic Ski Foundation and the TW snowboard program.

What sets us apart from other hills in the area is our commitment to teaching the sport. Our snowboard park is the perfect place for new boarders to learn this exciting, fun sport. Our snowboard instructors take that teaching commitment seriously and are well known for their love to ride and living on the hill giving tips and tricks to any rider that shows an interest. Group and private instruction is available.

After a day on the hill, warm up and refuel at the bar and grill inside the Wirth Chalet, which offers sandwiches, hot dogs, soup, snacks, and beverages, plus free wireless Internet.

Season Pass: $100 + tax
Daily Pass: $10 + tax Wed-Fri., $13 + tax weekends, holidays, & school release days

Snowboard Lessons

Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays: 6:00 pm
Saturdays and Sundays: 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm

If you've always wanted to snowboard but don't know how, our knowledgeable instructors offer 90-minute lessons to make your first time a fun time. If you've been boarding for years but want to take it up a notch, they'll teach you tips and tricks to take your game to a higher plane. Our 90-minute lesson package includes all rental equipment and your daily snowboard pass. We use only Burton boards and bindings for all of our lesson programs.

Lesson Package: $37

Please arrive 45 minutes before your scheduled lesson time for your Burton LTR (Learn to Ride) equipment fitting.

Snowboarding Equipment Rental

Don't have your own gear? Boards, boots and helmets are available for rental, and wrist guards and gloves are available for purchase at the Pro Shop inside Wirth Chalet. A deposit of a driver's license or $5 per person or group is required.

Package (snowboard, boots, and helmet): $17 + tax
High Pro Snowboard: $30 + tax
Helmet: $6+ tax

Snowboard Boot Sizes: Kids: 3-5, Men: 6-15, Women: 4-8

Head to the Wirth Chalet to get your snowboard ready for a day at the park. We offer snowboard waxing while you wait!

Snowboard Park

The Wirth Winter Recreation Area is the local hot spot to ride rails, boxes and more. The snowboard park located behind the Wirth Chalet features:

Straight Rail (12 ft.)
For intermediate and advanced riders, it requires basic to technical snowboarding abilities, which is determined by how they are set-up in the park. A jump before the rail may be added for increased difficulty. The rails are moved around every few weeks to vary the difficulty level.

Rainbow Rail
Adjusts to a wide range of abilities depending on where it is placed in the park.

Battleship Box (2)
Used in introducing rail riding in lessons, this box is wide enough to provide an “intro to rails” lesson to advanced beginners. Up/Down Rails (4)
These rails may be placed together or separate, and are intermediate/advanced rails that may also be introduced before or after a jump.

20-ft. C Boxes (2)
The boxes curve either to the left or right with an off-camber to add difficulty.

16-ft Down/Flat/Down Kink Rail
This rail is similar to a Rainbow Rail in design, but with an added "Kink."

Kiddy Snowboard Park
This small park offers features that may be used by anyone that is just learning park riding.

Snowboard Parties

The Wirth Winter Recreation Area is an amazing facility to host snowboarding parties. We offer private banquet facilities with catering services, a snowboarding hill with rental equipment and instructors, and free wireless Internet.

School's Out Camps for Kids

February 18

School's Out Instructors have a day of fun planned for your kids this winter. Camps include beginner cross-country ski lessons, beginner Learn-to-Ride snowboard instruction, snow tubing, rental equipment, plus lunch and warm refreshments in the Wirth Chalet. Space is limited.

Ages: 7 and older

1-Day Camp: $75.00 + tax

2 Days: $70 per day + tax

3 Days: $65 per day + tax

4-5 Days: $60 per day + tax

Drop Off: After 7:30 am Pick Up: 4:30-5:00 pm

Cancellation: 24 hours' notice is required for School's Out Camp cancellations. Call the Wirth Chalet at 763-522-4584.
