Minneapolis Trails and Pathways

The Minneapolis Park System features 50 miles of trails that are ideal for walking, jogging, rollerblading and biking throughout the year. The paved trails wrap around lakes and along parkways of the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway showcasing parks, gardens, historical sites, beaches, golf courses and diverse Minneapolis neighborhoods.

Trail highlights include the woods of Theodore Wirth Park, the Chain of Lakes and Lake Nokomis, Minnehaha Creek and the Mississippi River, Deming Heights and the canopy of trees along Victory Memorial Drive.

Whether it’s winter, spring, summer or fall, bring your dog, bikes, tots in strollers and Segways to explore Minneapolis at your own pace. Click the links below for additional trail information.

Temporary Trail Detours in Place between Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles During Met Council Sewer Construction
Met Council sewer improvement construction between Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles is temporarily impacting pedestrian and bicycle traffic between the lakes, including the Midtown Greenway. Detour routes are in place for both pedestrians and cyclists during construction and will be modified as construction zones change. The work impacting pedestrian and bicycle traffic is scheduled for completion in October. Signage and barricades are in place; please abide by posted detour routes. Click here for more information about specific trail detour routes. Visit http://www.metrocouncil.org/sewerconstructionupdates for information about the Calhoun-Isles Area Sewer Improvement project, including schedules, maps, detour information and more.

Unpaved Trails
For those who want to get closer to nature there are unpaved trails at the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden (2/3rd of a mile) and the Quaking Bog, both in Theodore Wirth Park. The Wirth Off-Road Cycling Trail is 4.36-miles of twists, turns, hills and woods.
