national program that serves area youth by teaching nine core values inherent in the game of golf, and incorporating those values into the instructional program.

The World Golf Foundation has designated the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board as an official First Tee Chapter. |
The First Tee Certification process is designed to move juniors through progressive programs of golf and life development skills. Each Certification Level has minimum requirements of golf instruction, playing time, and oral and written practical tests that will increase their knowledge of golf and life development skills.
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board offers the following First Tee lessons and clinics:
- Little Chippers: Ages 5-7
Students learn proper stance, grip, basic fundamentals of the golf swing using irons and woods, and proper putting techniques.
- Par level: Ages 8 & older
Beginners and youth with some golf experience will learn proper stance, grip, basic fundamentals of the golf swing using irons and woods, proper putting techniques, and First Tee Life Skills instruction.
- Birdie level: Ages 10 & older
Students who have achieved Par Level certification will learn advanced golf instruction, including course management. Life skill instruction including goal setting, goal ladders, and proper nutrition also included.
- Eagle level: Ages 12 & older
Students who have achieved Birdie Level certification are introduced to the rules of the game, receive video swing analysis, advanced First Tee Life Skill instruction including individual health and wellness assessment, preparing them for more competitive high school golf.
- LPGA USGA: Girls only ages 12-18
Girls who want to play golf for fun with friends or family, or compete at the high school, college, local, state or national level will learn to play golf, build lasting friendships and experience competition in a fun, supportive environment. Students will learn proper stance, grip, putting, chipping, half and full swing with irons and full swing with woods. View Girls Golf Video
