The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board offers excellent opportunities to learn to play golf in a fun, relaxing atmosphere.
Our golf schools are different from lesson programs at other golf courses. Our PGA Pros believe that students need to move through programs to fully appreciate the game of golf and strongly believe that bringing the classroom to the golf course is instrumental to your success. We will not leave you on the lesson tee asking yourself “Now what?”
Mission
To create golf school programs that allow students to learn the game of golf in a relaxed, non-threatening environment and progress the students through the classroom to playing the game of golf.
All golf schools are taught at Columbia Learning Center and Hiawatha Learning Center.
Beginner Golf Schools teach new students the fundamentals of golf, including describing how the game is played, on-course etiquette, proper stance, grip, putting, chipping, half and full swing with irons and full swing with woods.
Beginner II Golf Schools continue player development. Students take the skills learned in the Beginner Golf Schools and advance to a next level. Students that have some golf knowledge are also encouraged to enroll in Intermediate Golf Schools.
Women’s Only Golf Schools teach students the fundamentals of golf, including course etiquette, proper stance, grip, putting, chipping, half and full swing with irons and full swing with woods. Women Only Golf Schools are much the same as our Beginner Golf Schools and Beginner II Golf Schools, but, as the name implies, only women may enroll.
