All full-time employees with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) are employed for 40 hours per week year-round. In addition, individuals hired to full-time positions receive benefits such as enrollment in a retirement program and medical, dental, life insurance, vacation, holiday and sick leave allowances.
Our full-time jobs range from administrative, skilled labor, unskilled labor to recreation program management, coordination and supervision, tree care, environmental awareness and education, public safety and facility maintenance. The following areas provide full-time jobs:
Management/Appointed: These positions generally require the minimum of a bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of mid-to-high level supervisory/management experience. These positions provide direction, development of policies and administrative procedures, have budget authority and make operating decisions.
Supervisory/Professional: These positions generally require the minimum of a bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of supervisory management experience. Work performed in these positions is of complex difficulty, including the management of specific programs and services and facility responsibility.
Technical: These positions generally require an associate degree, vocational educational certificate/degree and related experience. These positions often implement programs and services developed by others and provide overall field coordination.
Office Support and Customer Service: These positions generally require previous work experience or business school training in office and/or customer service work.
Public Safety and Law Enforcement: These positions include both licensed peace officers as well as non-sworn personnel who provide education to assist park visitors, ensure that the general public is in compliance with park ordinances and administrative procedures and provide for the safety of the public and MPRB staff.
Maintenance/Skilled Trades: These positions help to ensure that park facilities and equipment are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
Forestry: These positions manage the urban forest (boulevard trees throughout the City) and provide education for the general public on how to care for trees.
Environmental Programs and Services: These positions promote awareness and provide education on the MPRB natural environment. A major emphasis of these positions is the monitoring and protection of water resources throughout the City.
