Minneapolis parks celebrate the holidays
 
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) celebrates the holiday season with programs and events at many of the neighborhood recreation centers. From making gingerbread houses to breakfasts with Santa, the Minneapolis Park System offers events for all ages.

Farview Park, 621 29th Ave. N –Senior Holiday Dinner, Saturday, Dec. 13, noon-3 p.m. Card games, a visit from Santa, prize board; $7 per person. Register online at www.minneapolisparks.org or at the park by 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10. For more information call 612-370-4922.

Fuller Park, 4800 Grand Ave. S. – Gingerbread House-making, Saturday, Dec. 13, 1-3 p.m. $6 per house, decorations supplied; cookies and cider served. For more information call 612-370-4963.

Harrison Park, 503 Irving Ave. N
• Gingerbread House-making, Sunday, Dec. 14, 1-3 p.m. $10 per house, work as a team (family or friends), decorations supplied. For more information call 612-370-4951.
• Winter Festival, Sunday, Dec. 14, 3-5 p.m. Arts and crafts, treats; free. For more information call 612-370-4951.

Hiawatha School Park, 4305 42nd St. E – Hiawatha’s Holiday Bash, Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1-4 p.m. Games and crafts. $8 per child. For more information call 612-370-4952.

Lake Hiawatha Park, 2701 E. 44th St. – Winter Snow Ball, Wednesday, Dec. 17, 5:30-7 p.m.; girls ages 3-7, come dressed as your favorite princess; $5. For more information call 612-370-4930.

Lake Nokomis Park, 2401 E. Minnehaha Pkwy. -- Gingerbread Joy, Friday, Dec. 19, 6-8 p.m. Decorate your own house made of graham crackers and frosting; supplies included; hot cider. $5 per house. For more information call 612-370-4923.

Loring Park, 1382 Willow St. – Light Up Loring, Wednesday, Dec. 10, 6-8 p.m.; tree lighting at 6:15 p.m. Free horse-drawn carriage rides, dancing with Kairos Dance Co., refreshments, music and an outdoor bonfire; free. For more information call 612-370-4929 after 1 p.m.
