MPRB pools, beaches set closing dates

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) reminds the public of when its pools, water parks, wading pools and beaches close for the season.

Beaches
The MPRB had another great year at our popular beaches drawing thousands of visitors during the peak months of June and July. Because of decreased usage in August and lifeguards preparing to return to school, lifeguards at the following MPRB beaches will no longer be on duty after Sunday, Aug. 17.
• Calhoun 32nd Beach
• Calhoun North Beach
• Calhoun Thomas Beach
• Cedar Point Beach
• East Cedar Beach
• Harriet North Beach
• Harriet Southeast Beach
• Lake Hiawatha Beach
• Nokomis 50th Beach
• Nokomis Main Beach
• Wirth Beach

Pools and Water Parks
Sunday, Aug. 24, is the last day at the Jim Lupient Water Park in Northeast Minneapolis, and Webber Pool in North Minneapolis. North Commons Water Park in North Minneapolis closes Aug. 31 The 61 neighborhood wading pools close the week of Sept. 1.

There is still plenty of time to enjoy other water recreation opportunities, including watercraft rentals at Lake Calhoun and Lake Harriet through Wheel Fun, fishing and boating on Minneapolis lakes.
